MOR EUSEBIUS KURIAKOSE
Mor Eusebius Kuriakose Metropolitan
H.G. Kuriakose Mor Eusebius was born on 8th September 1970 in the Chaelakatukoodi family in Angamali Diocese. He was baptized by name Kuriakose at the St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church in Pazhathottam which was his mother parish. After attaining his Bachelors degree in Sociology from the Mar Athanasius College of Arts and Science, Kothamangalam, he entered priesthood.
In 1992, he was ordained deacon by H.G. Mor Severios Abraham. He then served as the secretary to late lamented Catholicos Baselios Paulose II of blessed memory for a few years. Later Deacon Kuriakose joined the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Seminary in Mulanthuruthy and attained a diploma from there. Thereafter he passed the B.D. exams from the Bishops college in Calcutta. During his days in Calcutta he had the opportunity to serve with Mother Theresa.
Later he received Master's degree in Theology from Papal Seminary at Pune and also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling. In 2000 Deacon Kuriakose was ordained Kassisso by H.G. Mor Thimotheos Thomas and was appointed as the Vicar of St. Mary's Church in Pune. He also served as the Assistant vicar of Baikula Church, Mumbai.
In 2006 the general council of Thrissur diocese elected Fr. Kuriakose George as their bishop-designate. His selection was later ratified by the various Church bodies including the Malankara Episcopal Synod. After receiving the final consent from the supreme head of the Church His Holiness the Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, on 2nd July 2006, Fr. Kuriakose George was ordained Ramban (Dayroyo) with name 'MALACHI' by the Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I at the Karingachira St. George's Cathedral.
A day after on Monday the 3rd July 2006, on St. Thomas day, five Rambans including the newly ordained Ramban Malachi were raised to order of Metropolitan by the spiritual head of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church His Beatitude the Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I at the St. Thomas church in North Paravur. With the Episcopal consecration, the new Metropolitan adopted the name EUSEBIUS. It was in this same church at North Paravur the Patriarch of Antioch & all the East H.H. Ignatius Peter IV had ordained four Metropolitans including St. Gregorios of Parumala (Chathuruthil Thirumeni) 130 years before in AD 1876.
Metropolitans of Malankara Church, Mor Philoxenos Yuhanon (Malabar), Mor Thimotheos Thomas (Kottayam & outside Kerala), Mor Gregorios Joseph (Kochi), Mor Ivanios Mathews (Kandanad), Mor Milithios Yuhanon (Thumbamon), Mor Yulius Kurikose (Simhasana churches), Mor Dionysius Geevarghese (Simhasana churches), Mor Theophilos Kuriakose (Seminary & Europe) and Mor Severios Kuriakose (Knanaya) assisted His Beatitude the Catholicos during the Holy Episcopal Consecration ceremony. His Grace Mor Eusebius Kuriakose was ordained as the Auxiliary Metropolitan of Thrissur diocese. Later in 2007, Mor Eusebius was given independent charge of the diocese. The Malankara Episcopal Synod also entrusted His Grace with the charge of Morth Mariam Samajam.
In June 2012, His Grace was relieved from the charge of all the above dioceses & organizations in India and was given the charge of Kothamangalam region of Angamali diocese and was also appointed as the President of KEFA. At present HG having the charge of Delhi Diocese and Kuwait Region.
